Pink Tourmaline ranges in colour from pale to vibrant, intense pink. Scientifically, tourmalines are interesting minerals due to their wide colour range. It is a boron silicate mineral containing colouring elements such as aluminium, iron, magnesium, sodium, lithium or potassium.

The name “Tourmaline” comes from the Sinhalese word “turamali” or “thoramalli”, meaning stone with mixed colours.

Pink tourmaline is said to symbolise friendship, compassion, transformation and humanitarianism.

Many tourmaline crystals exhibit two or more colours, whilst crystals displaying only one colour are rare. Because of the variety of colours, tourmaline can often be confused with other gems.

It is the birthstone for October and the gemstone for the 8th wedding anniversary.
